Face heals best: Of all the locations on the body, the face heals the best. Scars go through expected stages as they heal. With time the scar should become lighter, shorter and thinner. Obvious irregularities in the scar may require further treatment. Topical care can be started once sealed. It takes a year for the scar to fully mature, so surgical treatment is usually delayed unless there is a functional problem.

Poor scars can be improved through the following methods: 1) scar massage 2) silicone sheeting (a kind of silicone tape you where over the scar) 3) steroid injections 4) laser treatment (helps remove coloring) 5) scar revision (removing the scar and starting over).
