Fibrous union: Most fractures are painful but if there is a fibrous union there may not be pain.

Fractures: Most fractures are painful in the first few days, and especially when muscles and joints pull on the fractured bone. The zygomatic bone is not directly involved with any joints or moving parts. Therefore if the fracture is stable (i.e. Not moving), then it might be painless. Additionally, a healed zygomatic fracture that does not impinge on nerves, muscle or blood vessels can also be painless
