24 to 48 hours: It will typically take 24 to 48 hours for an antibiotic to take effect. If your symptoms are gettiting worse or you are not starting to feel better you should call your dentist and let them know what is happening.

2-3 days: Might need a stronger or combination of 2 antibiotics. Also see your dentist for a follow up.
