"hard time" means ??: "having a hard time breathing" has a different meaning for different people. A 2 year-old is a young child, so a doctor needs to check to see what is meant by "hard time breathing". Truly worrisome problems include asthma, pneumonia, or an inhaled object (such as a toy). However, sometimes the problem is a badly stuffed nose. A doctor can help decide whether this is an emergency or not.
