Yes: Dentists reshape teeth to make adjustments in the bite for any number of reasons. The outside enamel of the tooth is slightly removed, usually with a high speed drill. It sounds and feels like a lot to some patients but is usually a minimal amount of reduction. If you have any concerns about this, please discuss it with your own dentist so you will understand why it is being done.

Bite adjustment: Bite adjustment involves slight reshaping of the enamel of the tooth. While that sounds unhealthy, it usually will save you from much worse wearing of the tooth structure due to clenching or grinding from a bite that has interferences in it.

Not really.: Adjusting your bite or occlusion is usually done to eliminate premature contacts on isolated teeth even out your bite so that all your teeth evenly hit when closing. This is usually done by adjusting the angles or inclines on teeth by fractions of millimeters. But you do not grind done the teeth like a sander grinds wood!
