VZV and HSV: Hsv1 causes cold sores in the mouth and lip area and over 80% people have positive blood tests to this virus. Hsv2 causes genital herpes and is less common. The combined hsv1/hsv2 test would be positive if you had either of these viruses. Ask for a split test to see if you are positive for either one separately. Vzv causes chickenpox and is a different virus and doesn't usually cross-react.
