Normal: It can be normal in the adolescent years as the hypothalamus (the gland in the brain) is maturing to have periods that skip around. Sometimes extremes of weight can cause this as well. If you are very thin or if you are overweight. If either of these is the case, i would see a physician. Also, your thyroid and pituitary can cause these changes, maybe see a physician and get some tests.
