Not Enough Tooth: Without pictures/x-rays, it is impossible for me to say for sure. However, it sounds like you do not have enough natural tooth structure for veneers, and may need crowns/build-ups and possibly even root canals. Unfortunately, relatively few people are candidates for only veneers. Many people need orthodontics, bite evaluation/treatment, root canals etc, in order to be ready for veneers.

Insurance plan: Insurance companies will only pay out for what they are obligated to pay out under their contract with the employer. If this procedure and/or the condition of your teeth are not covered or ill advised, they will not pay. If your teeth are that broken down, crowns may be the answer. Your dentist should be your advocate for this.

Insurance coverage: First, each insurance plan has its own set of rules as part of a contract & yours may just not cover that procedure. There are also other limitations such as maximums per year. It sounds like you may need more than veneers and insurance companies do not want to pay for a service that won't last for at least 5 years. Have you discussed this issue with your own dentist who can give you the answers?

Insurance: That would be a question for your dental insurance company to answer. As dentists, we often don't understand the complexities of dental insurance coverage as often times it does not make logical sense.
