Wait will get better: Dot worry , if it is only sternal hematoma will subsides with out any future problems in just couple of wks. Make sure to ask your doctor you do not have any other decelerating injuries, and have no cardiac contusion.

Trauma : Any studies used to assert your diagnosis of a hematoma? Blunt trauma is always assessed based on mechanism of injury. Significant impact leading to airbag deployment is considered a high velocity mechanism of trauma (higher risk). You should have had a chest x-ray, and even if normal, with your persistent pain, should have a ct angiogram study of your aortic arch to assess for injury.
