Yes: Poor glucose control may ultimately not adversely affect the outcome of cataract surgery. However, except for rare circumstabces, the surgery is typically an elective procedure and can performed at any time. There is no reason to push elective surgery when you have an active medical problem.

Diabetes cataract: It is best to stabilize diabetes before an elelective procedure like cataract. Diabetic retinopathy (retinal sweling / bleeding / neovascularization) can progresses with or without cataract surgery with poorly controlled diabetes. In some situations cataract surgery is necessary in order to properly treat diabetic retinopathy (poor visualization). The ophthalmoligist should advise in this case.
