A certain level of stress can be beneficial--gets us to do our best. Overwhelming stress can be quite debilitating and prevent us from enjoying life or functioning effeciently.

Not Always: A certain level reaction to stress can be positive, because the stress reaction helps to prepare your body to take action. The problem is when these symptoms become more severe and are always present. That's when negative changes can start to occur in the body.

It can: I have found stress to influence many medical conditions. See if you can make a stress inventory of everything you can think of (both good and bad) in your life that add stress burden. Give an approximate value for each item. Then try and figure what your stress limit is.If your stress load for the day will reach or exceed that limit, that might be a day when your meniere's is worsened by stress.

Can stress and thinking too much cause digestive problems?

2 doctor answers5 doctors weighed in
Dr. Steven Reidbord
Psychiatry 36 years experience
Absolutely: The digestive system is very sensitive to stress in many people. From top to bottom, symptoms can include nausea, lack of appetite, stomach pains, stomach gurgling, diarrhea or constipation. It's best to manage the stress itself; in the meantime you might try over-the-counter digestive aids like pepto-bismol. See a doctor if symptoms are severe or persist.
