Chronic hives: What you have is likely chronic urticaria when hives last more than 6 weeks. It is unsure if stress causing urticaria or the other way around, urticaria flare ups causing you to stressed out. In any cases, to the best of our knowledge, there are only 2% of chronic urticaria has an etiology. The rest is called idiopathic or we don't know what causes it. You should see your doctor to discuss more.

Hives: Stress induced hives are called chili ethic urticaria. They can also be triggered by hot showers or exercise or anything which causes you to sweat. Fortunately they can be controlled with antihistamines like zyrtec or allegra (fexofenadine).
