Ask hospital doc: Have the hospital doc check the baby while you are there. Congratulations on your baby's arrival! i send wishes for a wonderful family and healthy baby. Heart rate of 200 in a fetus or newborn can be normal if it's there briefly, but usually would not remain at that rate.

Increased heart rate: Newborn babies' heart rate is much higher than that of an adult. A heart rate of 200 is higher than normal, however, i wonder if that's going on constantly or was it a one time measurement. In that case, if the baby is doing well, otherwise, a consult with a cardiologist and an ECG evaluation to begin with is appropriate. Depending on the findings, further suggestions will be made.
