A member asked:

What vitamins in addition to folic acid, b, c and d would you recommend to help with mood swings related to keppra (levetiracetam) aed?

Folic acid/fish oil: If you put Keppra (levetiracetam) into the mytavin.Com nutrient depletion calculator, Folic Acid is the big one. Some of us cannot convert folate or Folic Acid into its usable form so taking reduced folate or methylfolate becomes important. Also, for improving mood, there is no better supplement than 2000-3000mg of epa/dha total from fish oil.

Multivitamin: With keppra, (levetiracetam) Depakote or Lamictal as well as any other anticonvulsant meds it is important to have a full 1 mg of folate and the omega 3 as suggested by dr gladd, but it is also important to have a good multivitamin with 100% rda of all the essential vitamins and minerals. Higher levels of b1, 2, 3 and c would be beneficial, but it is important not to take too much of some vitamins and minerals.
