Likely not permanent: The most likely issue causing hand numbness after a long plane flight, a situation implying cramped circumstances, is an ulnar neuropathy - pressure on the nerve at the back of the elbow (the "funny bone"). This would make your little finger numb. This is usually damage only to the insulation of the nerve and resolves in 4 to 6 weeks.
