Gastritis: Gastritis is an inflammation of the stomach lining. This is usually caused by the acid produced by the stomach and outside influences such as alcohol and greasy or spicy foods. Anything that causes your stomach to produce more acid will flair up the gastritis. Cigarette smoke contains many chemicals that get into your blood through the lungs and may increase stomach acid.
