Pleurisy : If a person has pneumonia, the lining around the lung may get inflamed and that is what causes the pain called pleurisy. The swollen lining rubs on the inside of the chest wall and hurts worse with deep breaths. Pneumonia can be serious and should get checked out. Go to er if have high fever with chest pain and shortness of breath. Also if coughing up blood.
