Closer follow-up: If your 25 week us shows abnormal weight (growth) and normal anatomy, your doc will look for potential reasons and correct them if possible remember, a single us can't diagnose growth disorders and you would need serial (every 4-6 wks) scans to assess fetal growth disorders. Your doc will check for placental, cord, & uterine abnormalities that could affect your infant's health. Good question.

Fetal weight: An ultrasound to determine a baby's weight may have a margin of error. If the report is not significantly out of proportion, the ultrasound may need to be repeated to check for a pattern. If it is significantly small, your doctor might suggest other tests like a bpp or a dopler flow velocimetry. Blood tests may also be necessary depending on your risk factors.
