It shouldn't...: But it could theoretically. An x-ray could help to tell. See your doctor, there are lots of simpler reasons for pain.

potentially: A titanium plate is most commonly used in the cervical spine as an adjunct to a fusion, not a disc replacement. The purpose of the screws and plate is to hold everything still until the fusion occurs. It is rare to have hardware problems if the fusion is solid, but if the fusion does not heal it is not uncommon to see screw or plate failure. It is usually the nonunion that causes the pain.
