Stretch: Exercises to stretch the iliotibial tract can diminish pressure over the greater trochanter. Nsaids can be a good support. Keep moving, and prolong your warmup can help keep symptoms minimized during the activity.

Balance work: Do less walking/running/elliptical/stairs/cycling/flutter kicks. Do more side-to-side work, side walking in the pool, hip abduction strengthening, balance work. https://www.clinicalkey.com/topics/physical-medicine-rehabilitation/trochanteric-bursitis.html.
