Parasomnias: Sleep paralysis is actually several different things. First it is normal in rem or dream sleep, without it you would act out your dreams! secondly it can be a parasomnia something that occurs next to sleep, and in this instance it must be determined why it is happening. Stress, insufficient sleep, alcohol, sleep apnea are some reasons why it can present. You need to see a sleep doctor.
