A member asked:

On naltrexone and i just stopped taking dalaid 3days ago. will they have any unnecessary effects?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not likely: The Naltrexone blocks or occupies opiate receptor sites so it tends to render those drugs 'ineffective'. Because of it's high affinity for those sites, it also tends to dislodge any opiate still there and thus can precipitate a withdrawal reaction in chronic opiate addicts. This is what happens with Suboxone if started too early on someone who has been using opiates; it can also decrease 'craving'.
