No: My bias is no. I've seen too many patients use it and either (a) get hooked on it and it becomes a gateway drug, or (b) start using it as self-treatment for a psychiatric disorder, which then remains untreated. Marijuana actually functions as a Dopamine reuptake inhibitor in the brain. That means it boosts dopamine. That means it can appeal to pleasure centers and get you hooked.

It depends...: Of course marijuana is a highly controversial herb. It is far safer than other "recreational" substances like alcohol. No medicine is good for everyone and some people are better off avoiding it, but many people use it safely and attribute many benefits to occasional use.
