Depends: Mild hypothyroidism might not cause any problems however low thyroid levels can lead to infertility, weight gain, depression, fatigue, hair loss, dry skin and contribute to high cholesterol and poor glucose control if more profound. Overactive thyroid can cause weight loss, anxiety, palpitations and arrhythmias, anxiety, diarrhea, sleep trouble and also cause hair loss and infertility.
