Hyperthyroid: Beta blockers are one of the treatment options for hyperthyroidism. It maintains the heart rate at acceptable levels and prevents tachycardia and the symptoms associated with it. (palpitations, light headedness, dizziness. ). Inderal (propranolol) is often used for its additional effect of reducing the level of the active hormone.

Never had heart problems until stopped taking Atenolol for hyperthyroid (levels now normal). Doc didnt say to wean as took low dose for 2 weeks. Now I wake almost every hour with heart rate at 145 then slows down. Withdrawal? Will be doing holter?
