Let me clarify..: If you are hyperthyroid, you should be treated for hyperthyroidism. The medication you are taking blocks the effect of too much thyroid but it doesn't treat the thyroid. Either medication, which are beta blockers, may benefit as far as treating the symptoms such as rapid heart rate but they do not treat the problem.
