The particular bacteria isn't important: UTI bacteria usually originate in the intestine, and P. mirabilis is normal there and a common cause of UTI. In general, UTI is uncommon in men your age. A common cause is insertive anal sex: if your penis has been in contact with a partner's rectum, that's probably the source.
