A member asked:

Can strep throat return if you have taken the antibiotics for it and a shot? i had it a little over a month ago, can it come back that quickly?

Yes: Strep can return if you were re-exposed. The shot and treatment covered you for 2-3 wks. You may also have other issues that mimic strep like mono.

Strep: Unfortunately, we do not develop immunity to strep. However, if it keeps re-occurring, you may want to get a throat culture when you seem healthy & ask your household contacts & friends to get a throat culture to see if someone is an asymptomatic carrier. Ps--make sure that your doctor is documenting that it is strep, because other organisms do not need antiotic treatment.
