Often: Vitamin c is often beneficial for gum disease. If you are deficient it will definitely help, if you are not deficient it may not. While the recommended daily intake is only 90 mg, i advise people take at least 1000 mg 2x/day for greater benefit. It may help: Vitamin c deficiency contributes to gum disease. Vitamin c is an antioxidant which aids in the maintenance and repair of connective tissue. Its antioxidant properties help in the oxidant rich environment of gum disease. Smokers in particular are very susceptible to have vitamin c deficiency. But, gum disease needs to be professionally treated, because vitamin c deficiency is just one risk factor.
