Bleeding somewhere: To throw up blood it would need to originate from one of many structures above the intestines.It could be from the back of the nose (nosebleed) or throat (injured tonsil), swallowing tube, entrance to the stomach or stomach itself. After partial digestion in the stomach or intestine the blood is coffee ground material. Swallowed blood can come up bright red.Urgent evaluation is needed
