See podiatrist: If you can keep the nail plate attached as long as possible, it will protect the nail bed and eventually a new nail will grow out and push the broken part out. If it breaks off or is symptomatic, see a podiatrist or dermatologist to remove the broken portion and for a possible prescription to protect the new nail from a fungal infection while it is growing out.
