Exam: A cystocele is a weakening of the supporting tissue between a woman's vagina and bladder. I will cause a bulge in the superior aspect of the vagina .During the exam you may be asked to cough or bear down to further evaluate the extent of the problem.

With a pelvic exam. : Just like having a pap smear, your doc evaluates your pelvic support sometimes with only the bottom half of a speculum, by having you cough or bear down, and/or by manual exam. You may feel vaginal pressure or a bulge when you strain.
