Either.: The most common way to diagnosis cystocele is by performing simple pelvic exam. Typically the rectum is held in place with an instrument as the patient pushes down as if trying to have a bowel movement. The amount which the bladder bulges toward the opening of the vagina determines the severity of the cystocele. I cystocele can often be seen on an ultrasound exam.
