A member asked:

Is vibrio parahaemolyticus infection painful?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

V.parahemolyticus: V.Parahemolyticus is often associated with a history of seafood ingestion or wounds in sea water. Unfortunately, conventional antibiotic therapy does not shorten the course of hemolytic or dysenteric illness (painful for some). As in all diarrheal diseases, the key is adequate rehydration. If diarrhea persists more than 5 days, patients may benefit from treatment with tetracycline or a quinolone.
