You are correct: The famous traveler's diarrhea is caused by the bug vibrio cholerae... Cholera can be endemic, epidemic, or pandemic...It is a rather important disease. Take precaution if you travel. Consult your doc. Check cdc.Gov web site before traveling etc... Good luck.

Yes: Vibrio cholerae is the cause of human cholera. Fowl cholera and swine cholera are not human diseases and caused by different pathogens.

Yes - Vibrio cholera: Specific strains of Vibrio cholerae can cause Cholera. Two types can cause epidemic cholera if they produce cholera toxin – serogroups O1 & O139. Non-O1 and non-O139 serogroups can cause diarrhea that does not lead to epidemics. REF: REF: https://www.cdc.gov/cholera/non-01-0139-infections.html
