STD: Lgv (lymphogranuloma venereum) is a type of chlamydia (std) and is not common in the usa (less than 1000 cases annually reported here). However it's still a risk for anyone practicing unsafe sex or multiple partners so please take precaution. No, it's not usually deadly, but left untreated can have serious consequences. Hope that helped!

Rare, not deadly: Lymphogranuloma venereum (LGV) is a rare STD in heterosexuals, virtually absent in the US in women and straight men. In the past 15 years, there has been a major resurgence of rectal LGV infection in men having sex with men. It can be a very srious infection, but rarely if ever fatal. It is easily cured with antibiotics, usually doxycycline.
