BP monitor: Most importantly, have a home monitor for blood pressure. Check if celery does the job although this is highly unlikely. There are many ways to control hbp. Whatever gets the job done. Check with the home BP monitor.

MIGHT help some: Celery supposedly helps decrease blood pressure by two effects, by dilating the arteries, and by increasing urine output (diuretic effect). To my knowledge it has not been tested in a scientific way (please chip anyone who knows that it has) for bp. It could have a placebo effect, where it helps relieve your father's stress knowing that he is taking something natural to decrease the bp.
