How are ulcerative colitis and chron's disease distinguished from each other?

Sometimes they: Overlap. In general, uc is limited to colonic mucosa, whereas crohn's disease can affect any GI organ and involves the entire thickness of the wall of the organ. Definitive treatment of uc is colectomy if medications fail. Treatment of crohn's is more complicated. It is a complicated subject matter that requires more than what can be discussed here.
