A member asked:

Why can't you have sex 6 weeks after having a baby. what do you recommend?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Healing takes time: The tissues involved in childbirth including the vaginal outlet and the cervix require time to strengthen during healing. Sexual activity does place a degree of stress on these tissues. Push them too hard before they are strong enough for the physical stress of sex and longer term problems can arise.
