Not really: Sometimes there is a lump in the throat sensation when anxious or upset. There could be a mass in the throat. There is normally a lump on the external neck (adam's apple). Suggest that you get this assessed. I am not sure what it is.

Lump in throat: Another possibility for the sensation of a lump in your throat could be laryngopharyngeal reflux, or lpr. With this, people often have throat clearing and mild hoarseness as well.

It depends.: This might indicate something going on like tonsillitis, etc. It can be something you are born with, like thyroglossal duct cyst that can be removed. A lump/mass may also be a sign of cancer, but other things/symptoms are present. One must note that these cancers are in people over 50 and those who use a lot of alcohol and tobacco, including smokeless.
