Why does the doctor say that there is a spot that wasn't there before of xray doesn't indicate anything abnormal?

Xray limitations: An xray is a 2 dimensional view of a 3 dimensional object. If caries were to occur in the thickest part of the tooth and were small, it probably would not show on an xray.
