Several Options: Options for getting a stone out of a ureter depend on size, location, and composition of the stone. For small stones, "medical expulsive therapy" may be sufficient: take an Alpha blocker (tamsulosin), drink plenty of fluid, and hope the stone passes. If the stone is in upper ureter and can be seen on plain xray, shockwave lithotripsy is preferred. Otherwise ureterroscopy, laser, and stent.
