What are the long-term effects of stimulant adhd medications?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Long term effects: The "party line" on this is that there are no "long term effects" of stimulant adhd medications - at least in the harmful sense. The beneficial longterm effects, particularly if administered to a really hyperactive or inattentive child starting at a young age (but not being over used), is that concentration and other beneficial brain pathways will be able to develop normally via "neuronal pruning.
