Fever: A fever can be caused by an open wound, especially if it is infected. May sure woun is not warm to touch; tender; or oozing. If it is, seek medical help.

Not always so: Red, hot, swollen and drainage (inflammation) are normal signs of healing and in fact, not bad but are integral to healing. Because this may have a systemic effect, you may find that you develop a low grade temperature. This is the body turning up the activity to promote healing. If your temp is greater than 101.5, then you probably have something else going on.
