Too late: If you have been diagnosed that a specific tooth needs root canal therapy, you have two choices... Have it done, or extract the tooth. There really is no middle ground with this problem.

Limited options : If the tooth has been truly diagnosed for root canal therapy, your choice ultimately is too either have it done or extracted and replaced. A short term remedy is a pulpotomy. It involves removing the pupal tissue from the tooth and placing a medicaments in the tooth. This is a temporary fix, which will not avoid the need for a root canal.
