Most Probably: Trigger point injections will most probably hurt during the administration, but it will relieve the existing pain so you gain more physical function (the huge gain is worth the fleeting pain). For joint trigger point injections that are not in the spine, you will probably not need an iv.

Yes: Trigger point injections are usually painful, but when performed correctly can be very helpful in relieving pain.
