Planks: Planks, yoga, pilates, and engaging your core during your daily activities will work all your abdominal muscles without causing too much stress on your vertebraes. On the other hand, regular sit-ups put too much stress on your spine and you only work some muscles. www.otwithmd.com.

Abdominal exercises: Simple situps can be just as effective if done repetitively, but for full core workouts, planks, yoga, pilates, even push-ups all give fuller, more total workouts than just situps. However, if you are just beginning a routine, start slow with situps and build up from there. Hope this helps, if so, please vote or follow me! thanks!
