Depends: If it is fluid behind your ear drum without pain or redness, it is usually not serious. It often resolves on its own. If it is only on one side, the area behind your nose needs to be examined though. If it is fluid coming from your ear canal, this needs evaluation of the cause. Treatment may be just antibiotic drops or it can need surgery.
