A member asked:

If i have vitligo do i need to avoid sun?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Yes: Although short term ultraviolet exposure in the form of narrowband uvb is used to treat vitiligo, long term sun exposure will likely just lead to frequent sunburns and increased risk of skin cancer in these areas. Consult a dermatologist to treat the vitiligo with a combination of topical steroids, Protopic ointment, narrowband uvb treatments, and/or excimer laser treatments.
