A member asked:

Is it possible to have both oral and genital hsv-1?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Absolutely: Oral herpes can occur in the genital area as well and luckily is usually less painful and frequent then genital herpes (hsv-2). Because oral sex is becoming more common and most men and women assume its ok to do this unprotected, we do see genital hsv-1. Prevention of hsv-1 to the genitals and anal region is why dental damns were made.
